Proclamation Recognizes the Broad Impact of Iowa Craft Brewing Industry
The Iowa Brewers Guild proudly announces that Governor Kim Reynolds has signed a proclamation declaring June 2022 as Iowa Craft Brew Month. The proclamation demonstrates the broad economic and community impact the craft brewing industry has on the state of Iowa and coincides with the Iowa Craft Brew Festival June 4th.
The gubernatorial proclamation recognizes the industry’s impact on the state including manufacturing growth, tourism, and community revitalization. Iowa’s craft brewing industry has grown year after year, doubling in size since 2014. Iowa has over 115 breweries in 76 different communities generating over a billion dollars of economic impact annually.
“The Iowa craft brewing industry touches every corner of the state,” said Noreen Otto, executive director of the Iowa Brewers Guild. “This proclamation really echoes Iowans excitement for their local craft products and shows how the industry has been embraced in communities across Iowa.”
The gubernatorial proclamation notes the collaborative work being done by the industry and the State to promote and elevate the profile of Iowa craft beverages. Iowa breweries have received national recognition for product quality including awards at the Great American Beer Festival® and the World Beer Cup.
Formed in 2007, The Iowa Brewers Guild is an organization working to showcase and improve the quality of beer brewed in Iowa, foster communication among the state’s brewers, advocate for the promotion of local brewing, and lobby for progressive changes in Iowa brewing laws.
